Alex's Hiking Trip with Su (while Nate was working at a the EYTAE-Camp) in Styria

We started our hiking trip in a nice valley. The plan was that we would hike for 3 days and stay at cabins on our way... but the weather was not sooo great ;-) (rain, wind, clouds, fog), so our trip lasted for 1,5 days only...

First, we hiked up to the "Nürnberger Hütte" (you can see it in the middle of the photo). There, we didn't really know if we should continue, since the weather forecast mentioned "thunderstorms" later on that day and it really didn't look great at all!

But - we decided to hike on anyways and after about 15 min up above the hut it started to rain like crazy! On the sattle it even snowed a little bit...  but we got rewarded with a great view on the glaciers back there!

The descent was a little bit slippery but still ok.

Finally we decided to hike back down. You couldn't even see the mountains around us! 

(Afterwards we were happy about that decision b/c it rained the whole day!)

Easter Vacation in North Carolina

A weekend trip with Lynn and JoAnn to Piney Creek (near Sparta, NC)

The rivers nearby were all flooded b/c of severe rainstorms! 

 Not even the "mule" could make it over there!

Alex had her first experience with driving a mule (and so did the others ;-)

  

 The house we stayed in. It was great and had a wonderful porch!

 The "New River" in front of the house was totally out of control. The swing is usually far out on the grass!
